So I'm considering switching to course 10.

This doesn't mean I'm going to do it. It means I'm thinking about it, and will make up my mind within the next two weeks. Or maybe I'll continue on my current track, take some course 10 classes, and go get a master's in course 10. I don't know.

It's also kind of late to be switching. Especially to, you know, the major with the longest prereq chains in the institute.

Any comments? I've been considering course 10 basically since I got to MIT - it's basically been a battle between it and 12.

I should get back to work on my UROP... *sigh*.

oh, cool. I was thinking of being ChemE for awhile...except I was scared of all the crazy chem requirements and the intimidating premeds.

Well I'd personally go with the take some course 10 classes and then get your MA in course 10 later. It is a bit late to switch like you said and personally I don't think it'd be worth going crazy scrambling to get the extra classes done to switch and graduate. What about minoring?

Btw, how is your summer and UROP going?
See ya in a few weeks...

Bobby is/was course 10. It's one of those majors that is VERY hard to start if you haven't had it in mind from the beginning, like course 16 - lots of chains of prereqs and stuff. But it's your call, and if you want to chat with him about the major any, lemme know and I can hook you guys up!

Have you taken any course 10 classes? How've you liked them?

I think how much you're interested in switching to course 10 may be relevant in your decision -- if you've taken course 10 classes and you're interested in them, but it's about the same level of interest between course 10 and 12, and you're only planning to complete one major, then it seems like staying course 12 would make sense. But if you're very interested in course 10 and less interested in course 12 (although you've certainly seemed rather interested in course 12 type things when I've talked with you), then it may make sense to switch.

By the way, there are contras on Thursday :)

Also, the italics in your Stuff-ness box on the right side of the page show up as italics for me...

i was thinking 10 for a while too, but then my research at princeton this summer was very chemE and made me realize i'm very glad to be 5. maybe check out a course 10 UROP, see if it suits you. if you don't have the schedule space to take the full major, there's always 10C. a lot fewer requirements, and then you're a double major. woohoo!
